There are those voices that just tear you from the inside out. You can’t stop it. It arrests every bone, tendon, joint until it all crumbles into dust. James Auger possesses an otherworldly gift. Known professionally as A Choir of Ghosts, he trudges to the end of the world and nearly breaks his back. New song “Sinner in Rapture” captures today’s angst in a very surreal, yet visceral, way, and his acoustic guitar, backed by a siren of voices, is the only way out. Or so we think. “When will I fall down against these raging winds / My sails are torn, and I’m ready to be reborn,” he laments. His feet are weary, cobbled with sores, and it’s the end of the world as we know it. He situates generational struggle against a harrowing backdrop of reality, as fires rages, plagues take hold, and powers prove totally merciless.

“Sinner in Rapture” is lifted from his forthcoming debut album, An Ounce of Gold.
