Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

“Loneliness” originally appeared on Aaron Taos‘ 2019 record, Birthday Boy. Its innate gloom, stemming from his very real bout of depression, shimmers through a throwback waltz wave. Now, months later, the rising pop star revisits the song to give it a facelift, enlisting the help of spill tab. Arriving as a full-on duet, at a time when society is collectively being strangled by depression and anxiety, there is something altogether medicating about the collaboration. “I got you, baby / And you got me, too,” they sing, intertwined. “That’s enough for me.” It’s both an emotional sucker-punch and a healthy dose of comfort. This is exactly what we need.
