Taste Test: AC Sapphire takes a ‘Mini Tour’ through her memories
The folksy storyteller lets herself get carried away in memories with a new song.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
The rings on my fingers mean something. They are part of my everyday life, often just hanging around as I go about my day unnoticed and spectral-like. Every once in a blue moon, I’m struck by their beauty – sterling silver sculpted in Celtic designs (or lush butterflies) with imposing, dark, mysterious crevices that carry a rich history. Memories flood back whether I want them to or not. Folksy storyteller AC Sapphire finds herself clutched in similar fashion upon discovering five bucks stuffed in the pocket of an old jacket. That’s how new song “Mini Tour” was born, a rose-tinted meandering through the past and every fuzzy-headed memory that comes with it. “I want to fill my cup / I want to get fucked up… / And not remember you baby,” she harps. Her brazenness is a coping mechanism, one lodged in her brain that erupts when a particular prickly pain rears its ugly three heads.
“Mini Tour” samples Sapphire’s new EP, Omni Present, out everywhere next month.
