Taste Test: Alessandro Ciminata tires of the digital sphere with ‘Wasted on Each Other’
The electro-pop craftsmen laments the current digital world.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
The digital space of the last 20 years has shifted literally everything about life. Our world is, for better or worse, at our doorstep (er, fingertips, rather). With that, some of our interconnectivity has frayed and sparked like down power lines in the dead of winter. Electro-pop pilot Alessandro Ciminata both feels burdened by such an existence and liberated – as he turns his vocals and thick accent as scattered light into himself. “Wasted on Each Other” trips along a current of synths, forlorn yet glistening, and each syllabic rhythm is an emotional punch. “And we want more…” his voice squeaks. It ultimately feels as if he’s resigned himself to the world that vaults more briskly out and way from him; he keeps up, undeniably, but it doesn’t come for free. He must pay his own price.
“Wasted on Each Other” is a taste to Ciminata’s forthcoming debut EP, expected early 2020.
