Taste Test: ‘Have It All’ is a triumphant anthem for the powerless
Alicia Toner mixes strength and vulnerability in powerful new release
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
We’ve all felt desperate and afraid at some point in our lives. Alicia Toner begins ‘Have It All’ with a soft guitar, beautifully delicate melody and vulnerable lyrics: “I’m terrified, mystified eyes are wide/As I try to find the reason/Try to please him”. However, the chorus rises triumphantly, with Toner’s soaring vocals transforming from vulnerability to power. The change is as dramatic as it is cathartic, inspiring positivity, hope and resilience. “This song is for anyone who can’t use their voice. Whether it’s out of fear or because the system has told you to be quiet, this is for you” Toner says. This song is an emotional journey of those who can and will overcome.
