There’s always that one relationship you saw ending a mile away. Or you at least felt it slowly unraveling – but you stood motionless to stop it. You let it play out, and you braced for the aftermath. Nashville’s indie-rock singer-songwriter Anthony da Costa recaps his own experiences with a new song called “Sooner Than Later,” in which he slowly floats out of body and sees it all unfolding before his eyes. “You’re a traveling work of art / And I’m a flower on your wall / With every petal that you tore / Somehow you’ve got me wanting more,” he yowls from the sting, slow and calculated. It all comes in sharp drips, drowning his skin in a shallow puddle of water, but even in reflection, it all comes flooding back even more piercing. “Let’s bury this alive…” the words gasp from his lips. A hushed whisper hangs on his tongue. Da Costa’s vocal rasp is nearly as heart-rending as the emotion, and it’ll envelope you, too.
