Taste Test: ASTRINA advises that ‘You Should Run’

If you’re self-aware to know enough that you’re the bad guy (thanks Billie Eilish!), you probably should warn people. It’s just common courtesy. Mystic-pop multi-instrumentalist ASTRINA tosses up a poisonous droplet of seduction, a volatile cautionary tale. With “You Should Run,” the Los Angeles storyteller counterpoints the usual “you’re the bad guy, so everyone stay away” of another lover, and instead, points the finger of blame directly at her own heart. “You should run away from my pain,” she sings, not cowering but planting her feet for the impending blaze. She dances as a demonic spirit inside a rhythmically-adventurous pop song that dives headfirst into euphoria with one of the best hooks of 2019. You won’t be able to run from this one ⏤ no matter how hard you try.
