A breakup elicits seismic ripples. As often is the case, that fracture happens well before anything has been said aloud, leaving one person out in the bitter cold. Folk band Athanase. shiver and shake with such emotional severity with their new song. “Too Late to Follow” hums low to the ground, as lead singer Jason Athanase Baronette busts out a wispy, delicate vocal take. The hurt echoes throughout his entire body, yet he remains as an ant in quicksand. He’s sinking fast, and no relief is in sight. “We’re all here together / Now, we finish on our own,” his voice is barely audible. It’ll knock you off your feet and send you careening down, down, down, with him.
