Forbidden love has long been a frayed thread line running through humanity’s entire existence. From interracial couples in the ’50s to same-sex couples today, archaic beliefs, prejudice and misguided notions have served to severe people simply living their best lives. London musician and songwriter Azu Yeché celebrates the marginalized and meaning of true love with his new visual for “Black Market,” a silky folk-pop jam framing his songbird vocal cords front and center. “Life on the black market, no one knows about us,” he sings, a tang of sweetness lacing his lips. The clip is shot through the filter of a home-video, granular yet still remarkably vibrant, and the joy seeps right through the screen. Yeché possesses a stunning charm that’s just downright infectious.
“Black Market” is lifted from Yeché’s new EP, expected later this year.
