Kacey Musgraves was right. Life is a dichotomy of happy and sad things, often operating as once and catapulting us into an emotional frenzy. Sunny Nashville rocker Beau Turrentine, originally out of Oklahoma, brands his heart in such a fashion with his new track “My Old Friend.” Only his second single issue since making Music City his home, the singer and musician lets the past come flooding back as the waves at high-tide, the sands broken memories he’s long abandoned and left to bake in the heat. But the resurgence allows Turrentine to sink back into the sweetness of life and reflect on those who have long faded from their earthly forms. “I really miss ya, my old friend / I wanna kiss ya, once again,” he waxes poetically frank on the hook. He collects up the shells and various other seaside trinkets, places them ever-so gently in his pocket and wanders resolutely along the shore.
