Taste Test: Belaver whips up a ‘Storm’ with a fascinating new single
Belaver – ‘one who washes over’ or ‘one who is refreshing in rest.’
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
It’s a rare artist that combines all the emotions in the human spectrum into one song. After multiple listens, I still have no idea how Belaver does it. With a joyful beat, a thoughtful instrumental track and a sorrowful melody, this song is an emotional rainbow, blurring all the colours into a beautiful musical explosion. Belaver says it best with the lyric “You’ll never know pleasure/until you know pain”. As with the emotions, its almost impossible to nail down a genre, with influences coming from folk, pop, rock, lofi and other genres. Despite this diversity, “Storm” is anything but fragmented, but more of a recipe of individual ingredients combining to produce a beautiful and soul-touching single. If you like Fleetwood Mac or David Bowie, this song is definitely worth your time.
