The mystery man reconfigures the typical love song into a dark confessional on a new track.

The fire of love is all-consuming. An musical intro containing crackles of slowly-dying embers, the flames long gone from the earth, mysterious alt-pop newcomer Bibo‘s new song “Fire” is a bedeviling and sluggish take on the typically jaunty, chewy and totally saccharine love song. “Bet you can’t leave me hanging by a thread / I want you even more now that you said, ‘I don’t even care if you left,'” his voice rises and falls as a puff of smoke. The darkness seeps from his bones in profuse, ghoulish gusts, but even as the shadows grow in strength and force, Bibo’s stance remains one of an unexpectedly cool demeanor. He relishes in the tangle of bodies and hearts and stolen kisses, glowing yet sinister, and the briskly ambient track serves to relinquish it all to beastly creatures of the night.
