We all have our way of wrangling our demons. It can often feel as though you’re locking away apart of yourself underneath the stairs; such an action can then unleash hell within your own brain. Australian pop singer-songwriter Blake Rose lets his soul-ravaging ghouls out from their dungeons, and so he confesses to the whole world every single bruise and mental punch he gave himself. He doesn’t mince his words or any meanings on “Heavy Shit,” a straight-forward cage match that almost knocks him out completely. “I fee like a ghost in my own damn home,” he sings. His numbness only forces him to the man in the mirror, and then, as the layers fall away, his spirit is left to mend the wounds. He might not necessarily have it all figured out, but his self-awareness is a good place to start.
