Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Estrangement comes in many forms. Whether it’s a gentle untethering of relationships or a blunt-force parting, the core of it all is an emotional disconnect. It’s all seemingly futile, though, and you wander aimlessly from room to room. Indie-pop singer-songwriter C. SHIROCK (full  name Chuck Shirock) feels the flames licking at his heels, and he tears himself away – an act of reconciliation for a dear brother, whose distance and utter silence haunts him. Shirock’s nightmares come to life with “Lost to the Night,” containing chilling vocal distortion to mirror the sorrow ripping through his chest and carrying him away into a ghoulish purgatory. “The silence you hide in, we still remain,” he sings. He hopes to burn away the outer shell of a soured relation, and all he can do is wait it out for the sun to melt away the morning fog.

“Lost to the Night” is another sampling of Shirock’s forthcoming album, Evidence of Things Unseen.
