Taste Test: Cap’n Marble take an acid trip through lost time on their new song, ‘First Book’
The lo-fi pop pair weave through a psychedelic soundscape.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
John Dasilva and Ryan Arshonsky took a psychedelic trip through the Sudanese desert. They claim they’d gone without food, water, and TikTok (gasp!) and came across a dark, dank cavern, in which a sorcerous spirit told them the ending of Lost. Out of such an outlandish fantasy, their new song “First Book” was born. Known together as Cap’n Marble, the lo-fi pop pair pulsate through a distorted soundscape of indie-rock and synthwave, arising out of a hazy purple smoke like to two sneaky, skin-peeling reptiles. Acoustic guitar and whistles ignite the track, before a gummy production quakes from the inside-out. “Where does all the time go?” they ask, almost a question of their new surroundings as an existential one.
