Taste Test: Cap’n Marble learn to let go with ‘Song for Ella’
The psych-pop duo finally cut ties with a relationship that was nothing but toxic.

“All of this time, you were weighing me down,” sing John Dasilva and Ryan Arshonsky, together as psych-pop duo Cap’n Marble. Their style is chewy, like fruit-stripped gum, and you never know what kind of juicy flavors will ingiting the tongue. With “Song for Ella,” they confront a relationship they thought was good but turned out to be toxic and chillingly one-sided to the bone. As the words slip from their lips, they eject into the ether and spin their own unique orbit, wrapping around indie rock, classic pop, and plenty of psychedelia leanings.
