Emotions are suffocating. It’s not our fault; we’re only human. The best we can do is suffer through them, and let the chips fall where they may. Through porcelain piano chords, pop newcomer CATALI uncorks her own heart as a way to prompt the listener to engage with and confront their own raging feelings. “Never Look Back” sprouts upward toward the sky, the sun peeking through the billowing cloud-scape, and her voice is a choir of angels swooping in and picking you off the ground. “Baby, listen to me / It’s hard / Let me fix you up / Let me polish up your heart,” she sings. Percussion pounds beneath her, as a team of horses, wild and free through the valley. The dawn might break before you know it. Trust it.
