The rising pop star finally lets go of the past.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
The best art stems from life. Personal turmoil can otherwise be agonizing, but art as a conduit to cope, understand, and redeem is essential to our very existence. Pop dynamite Chloe Lilac pours the ash of a former friendship, one which imploded right before her eyes, into the video for a song called “Here’s Your Song,” in which she both dismantles the past and reconstructs her present. “I know you always wanted me to write a song about you,” she tosses the past into fiery flames. Directed by Jasper Soloff, known for working with VINCINT, Tate McRae, and Leland, the visual twitches between anguished blood reds, shrouded over weepy intimate moments, and her triumphant reclamations of self. It’s icy tone is equal parts biting, exhilarating, and fearless.
“Here’s Your Song” is the latest primer to Lilac’s new EP, expected everywhere this spring.
