Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

If you can’t express your feelings unless you’re blackout drunk, you may need to reevaluate things. Pop breakout Conan Gray vents his frustrations over a potential suitor who can’t seem to get it together. “Trip down the road, walking you home
You kiss me at your door / Pulling me close, beg me stay over / But I’m over this roller coaster,” he pulls away, rolling his eyes. His voice is icy, dripping around a thick alt-pop beat before launching into a power, rhythmic hook: “Nineteen, but you act twenty-five now / Knees weak, but you talk pretty fly, wow / Ripped jeans and a cup that you just downed.” Gray, wearing his heart on his sleeve, has certainly master the craft of confessional songwriting, and 2020 is his to take.

“Wish You Were Sober” is ripped from Gray’s debut LP, Kid Krow, out everywhere now.
