Three years ago, collective Coopertheband culled various Biblical influences for their debut record. Following an acoustic-wrought EP in 2019, fueling their knack for melody and structure, they return with “Stuck,” an appropriately timely message of feeling stagnant with no possible way out. Written way before the ongoing pandemic, its glossiness rises like steam off concrete, voices intertwining as one before blasting off into the cosmos with a propulsive energy. “I’m stuck in this upside down,” lead vocalist Cooper Brown confides, pulling the listener closer. An intimate anchor gives further weight to the production’s heaven-boud assertions, accentuating the terrible feelings of angst, uncertainty, and paranoia permeating every slimy inch of society these days.
