Taste Test: Creature Comfort fall into bad habits with ‘Big, Buff, and Handsome (Sounds Like a Good Time)’
The folk-pop-rock outfit analyze ongoing cycles.

We are simply flawed human beings. No matter how hard we try, or how good our intentions may be, we’ll stumble, and we’ll fall, and we’ll gain a few more scrapes and bruises. We pick ourselves up off the gravel, and vow to do better the next time. Rinse and repeat. Harvesting folk and pop, with a dusty coating of indie-rock, Creature Comfort dissect this very cycle in their own lives. Lead singer and guitar player Jessey Clark wants to make better decisions, but his body is caught in a trap, a sticky one in which he can only seem to pick the same choices time and time again. With “Big, Buff, and Handsome (Sounds Like a Good Time),” Clark laments for his continued sour state, yet there’s a particularly perverse celebration in it. “Chase the tracks that you’ve created / And wind up at the same place where you’re from,” he loops.
“Big, Buff, and Handsome (Sounds Like a Good Time)” samples the band’s new album, Home Team, out everywhere October 30.
