Taste Test: Dan Olsen feels the heartache like ‘It Was Only Yesterday’
The London-based musician gathers up his heart post-breakup.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
At first, breakups only serve to break us down. We’re left grasping our heart in our hands, pulling together all the frayed ends into something tragically beautiful. London folk singer-songwriter Dan Olsen molds his own ashes into a poetic charcoal print on his new song. “It Was Only Yesterday” echos through the past and the burning emotions that still run hot through his body. “All that remains is the debris / Shattered pieces of memories,” he sings. His aches brand as fire-laden iron, but the iciness is quickly filling up his heart, too, just enough so he can perhaps finally move on.
“It Was Only Yesterday” is another taste of his forthcoming EP.
