With proceeds going to charity, Deathcruiser‘s “afterglow in ohio” pays tribute to the train derailment disaster that took place in East Palestine, Ohio. “How do we live like this? How did we lose control? How do we see the truth in what we’re told?” Adam Roth ponders. Those questions may never have answers, giving the song a haunted, emotionally-coated exterior. Roth’s voice flutters like puffs of smoke, never staying put, and vanishing as quickly as it appeared. He then puts the refrain (“the afterglow in Ohio”) on loop until the last few notes fade from existence. It’s enough to rattle you to the core.
