Taste Test: Dylan Dunlap learns not to take life so damn ‘Seriously’

Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

“Life’s more than an occupation,” asserts Dylan Dunlap. A song weighted with a two-ton anvil, yet flighty and free, “Seriously” buds out of an agonizing songwriting process ⏤ “I word vomited what felt like a novel,” he admits. In undergoing such a process, effectively instilling him with a much-needed life lesson, Dunlap achieved an ability to grow and flourish in a way he could not have anticipated. “I took myself too seriously” rings out through a bullhorn, an anthemic sizzle bubbling in the high-flying mix. By nature, human beings chase and chase things that ultimately don’t really mean much and forget that life is about really, truly living. We need this more than ever.
