Time is both tangible and intangible. It’s a driving force behind our very existence, woven into even the most mundane of everyday life, yet it drags us kicking and screaming through endless, echoing halls. Folk-rock craftsman Dylan Perkons heaves his existential dread upon a proverbial chopping block, then slicing it to shreds with his numbing serenity and deep-rooted angst for the life fading around him. “Black and Blue,” complete with textured raindrops sputtering from the open sky, wanders, perhaps aimlessly, around time’s violent hand. “Restless was my soul,” he stresses the dire state of his being. His life is just another victim to time, whose dripping fangs sink into every one of us. We don’t know it yet, but we will soon enough.
“Black and Blue” is another sample from Perskons’ debut album, The Healing Day, expected later this year.
