Taste Test: DYLYN rinses off the darkness with the somber ‘Only Us’
The pop icon reflects on dark times resulting in true beauty and love.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones.
Beauty sprouts of the darkest times of our lives. We’re literally living it this year. So, it makes sense DYLYN‘s “Only Us,” a rhythmically dark entry in her burgeoning catalog, arrives right when we need it most. On the heels of the blood-pumping “Let You,” the criminally overlooked pop icon pulls the reigns in for a nuanced and affecting performance. She continues to cut from her same arsenic-laced songwriting fabric, yet it fits into the larger framework as its own unique patchwork. “There was only us / You make my fears get smaller,” she sings like smoke rings in the dark.
“Only Us” samples her forthcoming EP, Make It Naked.
