Life is never like you picture it. Love, in particular, can be especially uncertain and cluttered with unexpected hurtles. Sometimes, things don’t work out, and its the strength to walk away without malice or bitterness that is most admirable. Singer-songwriter Elina aligns her latest song “Paper Planes” inside such a thematic groundwork, the melody and production swelling until she herself takes flight. “Love is harder than it used to be,” she infers. She’s acting as narrator, having combed observations from two friends who parted aways, and her vivid details are thoughtful, compassionate, and moving.
