Life is trying sometimes. Some years will test your determination to fight for what you want and what you so desperately need, and if you’ve got enough pluck left inside of you, you’ll come out victorious. Looking back on an especially tough year, New York City folksmith and accomplished musician Elizabeth P.W. calls back to a transformational time in her life and how far she’s really come. “The Year” is laced up with twinkling guitar work and a warm blanket of strings, that are as lonesome as they are somehow soothing and seem to heal her wounds. “She threw glares that could freeze the sun / Or melt your heart if she so choose / What a silly thing to lose,” she sings, practically weeping for her past self. But ultimately, she’s thicker skinned for the experience, every scar now an emblem of her spirit and heart.
“The Year” comes from her new EP, Haven’t Found It, out everywhere now.
