Crash courses are necessities. You can’t know how to truly soar until you’ve hit the ground, head on. Such a nosedive is inevitable, so the sooner you embrace it, the less likely your system will be totally shellshocked. Singer-songwriter Emma McGrath lets the adrenaline wash over her head, cascading production icing her eyelids shut, and as the beat thickens, she braces for final impact. On “Fall with You,” glued together with piano and brittle finger snaps, McGrath seems to also dance away the anxieties of the unknown and gets lost in glittering euphoria. “Sometimes, you’ve got to fall just to find yourself,” she rallies her own heartstrings. Her new-found determination glistens in her eyes, and despite a devastating blow, she’ll soon return back to the mountaintops.
“Fall with You” is the latest primer to her new EP, Keep Your Eyes Open, expected everywhere January 17, 2020.
