Some relationships leave trench-sized wounds, and it often takes years from which to recover. Indie-pop newcomer Erica Knox awakens from a deep slumber with her new song. “Running Inside of My Brain” finds the Canadian artist confronting her trauma and its lingering psychological scars. “It kills me to think that you’re doing alright / I’m happy for you, but I’m burning alive,” she cries. Sparkling production falls down around her like snow. While she has plenty of healing left to do, her fearlessness to address the pain in song is certainly a giant leap forward.
