Heartbreak can leave you shattered on the floor. And it can be difficult to climb to your feet again. But Estella Dawn is hopeful. With “California,” she chooses to see the good that comes out of all the bad. “I hope you find everything you need out in California,” she sings over trippy drums. “That the surfs good, blue skies, got someone who adores yah.” Instead of letting regret and bitterness contaminate her heart, she lets it all melt from her body. She steps into the beat with a renewed spirit, her voice sliding across the melody with a tangy sweetness. “I doubt I’ll ever stop loving you,” she admits. That love serves her well already, and “California” is her testament.
