Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Producer TYC has a way of pressing down hard on your bruised emotions, raw and visceral, through decorated synth art and enlisting a vocalist whose natural gifts further accentuate the emotional left-hooks. With a new song called “I Won’t Watch You Cry,” singer Ethan Patrick nearly squeezes his heart to death in his bare hands, and TYC’s craftsmanship dazzles and jabs, giving the lyrics a proper framework from which to tickle the senses with a pop and flutter. “It’s different than it was / I miss the way it feels when we were still in love,” Patrick croaks on the pain stuck at the back of his throat. But he’s soon capable and willing to extract the heartache, the tear-soaked nights, the blurry, faded imagery of sun-bleached romance to free himself. He quickly trims the pain with this razor-sharp lyrical blade: “I can’t fight a war / I won’t let you hurt me anymore…”
