Taste Test: EVER finally steps into her ultimate ‘Glow’
The alt-pop upstart learns to embrace every part of herself.
Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones
We are our own harshest critics. Nothing ever seems to be good enough, and the battle rages ever endless. But the second we allow ourselves to breathe and to make mistakes, only then can freedom be truly achieved. London’s alt-pop darling EVER (real name Louise Smith) basks in such an effervescence, a magnetic force field that falls upon her shoulders, with a new song. “Glow” is a twirling fixture of electronica and rhythmic-based pop, glued together with animalistic hoots and chirps. Smith escapes into the brambles, fully committed to feeling that rush to her cheeks and the thrill of what it means to be alive. “You’ll find power in letting go,” she sings. It swiftly morphs into more an urgent plea to the listener than a confessional of herself. She now stands tall in her own liberation movement, and she beckons all to experience it, too.
“Glow” samples Smith’s debut EP, Golden Hour, out everywhere now.
