We’re all just buzzards crowing into oblivion. TV static grows into a quaking rumble, and we, perceiving it so, fall and spiral further into the background. But folk singer-songwriter Femke pulls herself together and re-weighs her undeniable worth. With “I’m Still Here,” a smoke-churning, brooding number, she peeks out from her hiding spot and reclaims her very real place in this world. “I’m the one that got away to some old lover,” she sings. She lets the sorrow wash out of her vocal, trickling alongside a guitar’s gentle tip tap, and it’s utterly, blissfully cathartic. “I lost myself in all the schemes and expectations…” she allows. And soon, she’s bathing once more in the sunlight’s warmth to live another day.
