Dante Alighieri’s “Inferno” has provoked a tremendous amount of thought since it was published in the 14th Century. Often, it bleeds into other artworks on a deeply subconciously level. Such is the case with indie band Fialta‘s new song “Paradise” and its brutally haunting musicality. It stomps on the brain with a supple gospel rhythm, and Beth Leibovich twists her vocals cords right around it all. “We were waiting in the 20th story room / Didn’t think that we would find ourselves so soon,” she sings, her vibrato absolutely quaking. There’s something downright spooky about it, if we’re honest.
“Paradise” anchors the band’s new album.
