The singer songwriter combines simplicity with poetry

Everyone has someone they’ve loved but had to let go of, and that grief can be overwhelming. Filiah has processed hers by writing a hauntingly stunning track that enraptures its listeners. With a low hum buzzing in the background and a single guitar note setting the rhythm of the song, “Goodbye” initially comes off as very simple and slow. But this simplicity showcases Filiah’s breathtaking voice, as she tells the story of the person she had to say ‘Goodbye’ to. “Everything I’d ever want/For you to love me just as much/I’m not the kind to walk away/But it seems goodbye is mine to say” she sings, her harmonies angelic, slow and solemn. With poetic lyrics and emotionally poignant vocals, “Goodbye” is a bewitchingly beautiful song I would highly recommend.
