Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Maya Angelou once preached, “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” Well, we’re admittedly very flawed human beings, and we might have to be hit over the head a few times to get it – even if you’re Oprah. Pop-rock band Flawes frontman Josh Carruthers had to learn that lesson the hard way. With a song called “Look No Further,” now given an emotionally-wrought live video, Carruthers finally confronts the truth that’s been staring him dead-eyed in the face. “Why are you acting the fool?” he says, almost in disdain of why he didn’t see as clearly all along. Flanked by bandmates Freddie Edwards (guitar) and Josh Hussey (drums), the performance carries with it an addicting hope that he can (and will) do better in the future.

“Look No Further” samples the band’s debut LP, Highlights, out January 31.
