Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 111: Alisan Porter, Jonfin, Caitlyn Smith & more
Enjoy new songs from Wrabel, Fiona Silver, NorthKid, Rackets, Matthew Pinder, Robin Cause and more1
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Alisan Porter, most known for her work on The Voice, puffs up like a bright cotton candy Pink Cloud on her new album. That’s not to say she doesn’t have a little snarling bite; she certainly does. “You Feel Like a Drug” scurries through the darkness, only a snaky sound across percussion, and her voice is a marvel. “I can’t give you up,” she weeps for her own sanity. Utilizing addicting love is no new theme in much of popular music, but when Porter sings it, you feel it in a remarkably deep way.
Chicago shape-shifting indie rockers Jonfin make a groovy return with their new song. “Old Ways” jiggles in their classically lo-fi way, guitars clanging against each other, and the outward ripples slice right onto the skin. “I don’t wanna tell you it won’t be anything good,” frontman Jon Wilson’s voice calls from the other side. He might not reach you just yet, but his words will assuredly smack you on the forehead. “It’ll be good!”
The new roster includes NorthKid, SHEARE, Caitlyn Smith, Fiona Silver, Matthew Pinder, Matt LeGrand, Nina Nesbitt, Emily Vaughn, Rackets, Bradley Arthur Maxwell, Kelleigh Bannen and Robin Cause, among many others!
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to power your weekend ahead. Get to listening!
