Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
If you’re like us, pop music is one big ole wave right now. There’s good; there’s bad; and then there’s downright magical ear foam. OSTON arrives firmly in the latter. With her debut EP, Sitting at the Kids Table, crusted with glowing starlight and synth-y twinkles, she makes big moves on rhythmic-rumbling pop music. Such essentials as “give up” are stuck with gooey eyelash droplets, patterned in similar fashion as Fletcher, and her voice is often sublime but also punches unexpectedly. “What about us?” cries from her lungs. She fills each space with a syrupy emotional heft, and we’re totally here for it.
Illicit Ghost is the kind of glitter-dusted chameleon that’ll quench your every pop thirst. On new single “Rabbit Hole,” she sews together a deathly skin-scratching production with a chewy, sky-gazing hook that, if there were ever any justice in the world, would position her for a well-earned superstar breakout. “I can’t help it / My body aches / For the chill of the rabbit hole,” her breath puffs through a dazzling haze that entices you into a world of true enchantment. It’s Alice in Wonderland through the eyes of the Cheshire Cat.
Our latest tasty smorgasbord includes: Kelleigh Bannen, JoJo, The Good Graces, Chris Knight, Karen & the Sorrows, Elliot Jones, Kendell Marvel, Travis Hayes, Ships Have Sailed, Black Suit Devil, Prince Fox, Michael Blume, Malin Pettersen and many more.
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to power your weekend ahead. Get to listening!
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
