Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 140: Benedict Cork, Speelburg, Brandon Alexander & more
Enjoy new songs from Chloe x Halle, Margo Price, Alt Bloom, Alex Frew, Windy Isle, and more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Succumb to the gentle trickle of piano and Benedict Cork‘s angelic siren call. With “Hollywood,” he laments the Los Angeles machine and struggles to find his place, wading through the muck and coming up empty handed. “It’s not what I thought it would be,” he cries out into the static. He stands firm in his convictions, even if the pain still stitches on the edges of his voice. For now, he finds only solace in his (truly excellent) work.
Speelburg is a chameleon. He can dress up or strip down into any genre; his shape-shifting capabilities are hypnotic. “World is Falling Apart (that version)” is a straight arrow folk track, only his voice remains minimally processed, a way to detach given the thematic core. “We both know it’s over,” he sings. He places the song within intensely personal footprints, but, as we all know, the world really is falling apart these days. We need this song.
The new playlist also includes cuts from Brandon Alexander, Chloe x Halle, XYLØ, Alyssa Trahan, Alt Bloom, Alex Frew, Windy Isle, Kyle Nix, 1000 Beasts, Margo Price, and many more.
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
