Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 143: Eddy Lee Ryder, Lauren Davidson, Avenue Beat, & more
Enjoy new songs from Gin Wigmore, Big Little Lions, Charley Crockett, Ross Cooper, and more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
Eddy Lee Ryder can’t be tamed. With her debut EP, Expected to Fly, she barrels out onto the horizon with a dusty, forlorn look in her eye and a back pocket brimming with blues, rock, and Americana. The titular cut ignites her journey, busting down the metaphorical barn door before galloping off into the sun’s scorching heat. “And with her arms in the wind, she expected to fly,” Ryder’s voice unhinges from the earth. There’s something frilly and rock vintage, perhaps a bit like Alannah Myles or Pat Benatar, with the way she bites her lip. Her words pour out, sprouting up as an oasis in the desert.
Lauren Davidson glosses up her work with modern fixtures that sparkle and glisten. New entry “Find Me” scales up from a crackling down-tempo into an uproarious, foot-stomper you’d likely find right on the airwaves. In the last few years, she’s inched her away up the ranks, from 2016’s debut EP, Hear Me, to 2018’s evocative “Pouring Rain.” Now, she unpacks a gallon of kerosine, pours into into the streets, and seeks to light it all on fire. And we should let her.
The new (post-vacation) playlist also includes Avenue Beat, Ross Cooper, Nina Nesbitt, Aubrie Sellers, Myylo, Gin Wigmore, Dead Method, Charley Crockett, Big Little Lions, and many more!
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning/afternoon. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
