Just when we literally recovered from her 2019 debut LP, Jade Bird returns with the follow-up single. “Headstart” clobbers you over the head, as she often does, building into the hooky core and give you ample time to prepare. “I’ve more pride than many / This is kind of rare for me,” she pulls you into her sphere, revealing her intentions. “Everyone knows that it’s true / You’re the only one in the room.” Once the chorus lands, she’ll surprise attack like a panther in the jungle.
