Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 164: Elle Winter, Frances Luke Accord, & more
Enjoy new songs from Myylo, Charlie Fisher, Ohly, Trenton, B. Hamilton, and many more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
We’re literally just recovering from “Yeah No,” and Elle Winter goes and does this. “Sad Girl Heaven” rinses away the senses with a more slinky and sinister movement, exchanging a high-volatage hook for one that squirms into your ears without you fully realizing it. “I’m excited for my funeral / I’ll be holding flowers, lookin’ beautiful / Break my heart I know you know / Now won’t you let me down,” she twists such macabre lyrics with delicacy, as if her life depends on it. And for now, in this very moment, it does.
Loneliness has never felt so… impenetrable like it has this past year. We’re still in the throes of losing time and relationships. Like most, folk duo Frances Luke Accord have certainly felt those emotional pangs course in their chests. And they wrote about it. “Dust to Dust” shivers like tumbleweeds in a sandstorm, vision impaired, and the only thing carrying them through is the connection still moving along their fingertips. “Ruby in the sun / Planet on the run / Pocket full of ash…” they mourn. They must process such emotions before they can discard ’em for better days ⏤ and those days are surely coming (here’s looking at you January 20).
The first playlist of 2021 also includes Pale Waves, B. Hamilton, Myylo, Trenton, Ohly, Charlie Fisher, Brandon Colbein, Oscar DeLaughter, Olivia Rodrigo, Sev7en Taylor, Lisa Remar, DYLYN, and more!
In all, we’ve got 30 new tracks to soothe your mind during these terrible pandemic times. Insert heart emoji.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday or Saturday. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
