Freshly Squeezed, Vol. 36: Sarah Darling, Fickle Friends, Lucy Dacus & more
Enjoy new tracks from Aisha Badru, Jussie Smollett, SUMif, Melanie Taylor, Banfi and more!
Welcome to Freshly Squeezed, a weekly new music playlist: spanning country, pop, EDM and urban, mainstream and other.
“Life’s about changing and nothing ever stays the same,” Patty Loveless once reassured us. But we could never anticipate just how much change actually flows through our lives. Thus, another week has ticked by, and our Freshly Squeezed is newly-minted with some fresh juice. Empire actor Jussie Smollett drops his debut album today ⎯⎯ and standout “Hurt People” is not only timely but hits the eardrums in all the right spaces. Melanie Taylor and SUMif also cough up some excellent new jams, “Ink” and “Love Shop,” respectively, while a new discovery Lake Street Dive blend soul, pop and blues into a hearty concoction with “Good Kisser.”
Carry Illinois finally release another stunner with “Runaway,” and Sarah Darling rips our hearts to shreds on “Wasted,” a robust but delicate performance. In our arsenal, we’ve also got new CHVRCHES, Fickle Friends, Prince Fox, Northern National, Deanna Petcoff, Now Now, BADTALKERS, Aisha Badru, Whiskey Wolves of the West, Volunteer, Banfi and Brandy Zdan, among countless others.
In all, we’ve got 56 outrageously good new tunes to dig into.
Each playlist will be refreshed every Friday morning. We reserve the right to update anytime during the week, so make sure you bookmark this page.
