Maybe nostalgia blinds us, but adulthood can certainly be rough. Sometimes, it’s just easier to get lost in the memory of better days before defeats and failures consumed our lives. I mean, it is 2020 after all. That’s where a song like Future Strangers‘ “Shania Twain” comes in. It’s an ’80s-splashed banger with icy confetti and a rose-tinted hue around the edges. “Are you still dancing to Shania Twain?,” prompts mastermind Matt Connelly. “Oh, nostalgia got me wishing I could never change.” Hindsight is most certainly 20/20, and within such a shimmering soundscape, Connelly transports the listener back into his younger days, a time peppered with big dreams and wide-eyed naivety. With summer waning, it’s the perfect track to backdrop the last few memories we’ll make before fall sets in.
“Shania Twain” samples Future Strangers’ forthcoming EP.

Shania Twain is a great song. I think more people should hear it as these are times when we need some nostalgia.
