Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

Gabriel Kelley’s latest song is one that most Americans can relate to. The past few years have been hard on everyone, from political strife, to the economic environment, to environmental disasters. Kelley recognises this sentiment, and has captured this struggle in musical form. His voice is slow and heavy with the hardships of everything he sings, but he doesn’t let that define the song entirely. “We have spent the last almost 2 years dealing with an almost unmanageable amount of hardship and uncertainty” Kelley says, “my goal with this song was to find some form of hope and solace in spaces that remind us we are all the same, all one family in unison.” The simple piano and strings form a pensive base coat for Kelley’s words. “Yes its true/we can make it through all this/we might be better off one day” Kelley dreams as the song draws towards its end.
