In the age of #MeToo and #TimesUp, stories of women are finally being heard and believed. But it’s never really over, is it? Biting with razor sharp songwriting incisors, New Jersey storyteller Gina Royale goes right for the jugular. Her new cut “March Song,” further elevated with a vulnerable, intimate but overwhelmingly empowered visual, celebrates not only women but spotlights the irrefutable plight of navigating a heavy-handed patriarchal system. “You do not march alone!” she howls, a reminder of support for fellow women. The world is a dark and dangerous place, riddled with abusive powers that be and their accomplices, and as allies, we all need to be making a little bit of noise these days.
“March Song” is lifted from Royale’s new album, Yellow., out everywhere now.
