Some songs just have an indescribable intrinsic beauty, and Glass Heart String Choir hits the sweet spot from the very first note. Pure and ethereal, the acoustics provide an orchestral ambiance to them. The violin is a core component of “Wounds”, as Katie Mosehauer weaves the warm vibratos through the layers of other instruments. There are few singers who can compliment this, but Ian Williams has such a careful multicoloured tone to his voice that it resonates perfectly with the rest of the instruments. “These wounds of love are hardly art/I wish the scars would be more beautiful/Than they really are”. The lyrics are achingly sad, hanging in the air longer than they should and for all their delicacy, striking deep with sorrow. This song is a finely crafted dagger of emotion, beautiful and delicate, yet with a sharpness that cuts to the quick.
