Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

I Am Strikes‘ “The Truth” really is a whole damn journey. The queer singer-songwriter begins pulling you through a haze of acoustic guitar, strings that grind and twist, and her voice is like angel perfume. “And maybe I’m not bitter from the past / I just haven’t found a future yet / To prove that love can last,” she tugs on your earlobes. She wields her voice with brawny precision, and even as the song shifts into a synth-layered spell, almost like donning a cosmic cardigan with magical powers, she holds her heart closer to her chest and continues baring it all. “And lately, I’ve been thinking of the day / When you told me there were stars between us / But you needed space,” she cries diamond tears. She calls upon a five-year relationship, entirely a secret one, so the brute force of her honesty is exposing and needed.
