Ingrid Andress is killing it. Her song “More Hearts Than Mine” entered the Top 10 at country radio this week, setting the stage for a bright, hopefully very long career. A new entry, cut from a similar stylistic cloth, “Life of the Party” sees her escape a devastating heartbreak into a foggy haze of sloshy elixirs, table-top dancing, and 3 am tears soaking her pillow. “Look at me, I’m the life of the party / ‘Round here, everybody loves me / But they don’t know that I’ve been hurting,” she draws you closer. As the song crescendoes, her vocal popping and cracking, the exact weight of her pain becomes clear and even more unbearable. Maybe, one day, she’ll find a true soothing agent.
“Life of the Party” primes Andress’ highly-anticipated debut album, Lady Like, out everywhere March 27.
